"What started as an attempt to solve a specific problem became a much bigger mission: helping people prove their reliability, build financial confidence and access opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach."

Loqbox CEO and co-founder, Tom Eyre, has been shortlisted for Scale-Up Entrepreneur of the Year at the 2026 Allica Bank Great British Entrepreneur Awards.

Tom's nomination recognises that our mission, to build better borrowers, is powering the economy, and that his determination and resilience will allow Loqbox to support people for many years to come.

Often described as the "Grammys of entrepreneurship", the awards celebrate the founders behind some of the UK's most ambitious and resilient businesses. This year's shortlist includes 740 businesses representing ÂŁ3.3 billion in combined turnover and more than 17,700 jobs across the UK.

The award recognises Tom as a founder and the people Loqbox exists to help. From day one, our goal has been to help people prove their reliability, build confidence and create more opportunities for themselves. This nomination recognises that work.

A problem worth solving

Loqbox exists because millions of people are held back by a financial system that doesn't always recognise their potential.

Too often, people only discover how important their credit history is when they're applying for a mortgage, applying for a credit card, or trying to get a loan for a big life moment. By then, it can feel as though they're already behind.

Tom founded Loqbox after seeing this first-hand. His sister, newly graduated from law school, was rejected for £4-a-week sofa finance. She was financially responsible and capable, but the system couldn’t see it because she had no credit history.

Tom realised the same problem was affecting millions of people across the UK, and he set out to fix it.

Building better borrowers

At Loqbox, we believe everyone deserves the chance to become financially ready for life's biggest moments. We are building better borrowers.

Financial confidence is built over time, through small, consistent money moves that make a real difference.

We help our members understand how credit works, build a positive track record over time and prepare for important life milestones, whether that's renting a home, financing a car or applying for a mortgage.

We believe people deserve recognition for their potential and the progress they're making, rather than being held back by the information their credit report captures today.

That's why this nomination means so much. It recognises that we’re working to solve financial exclusion.

Progress that matters

Since 2017, more than a million people have used Loqbox to build their financial confidence, and our members have saved more than ÂŁ137 million collectively along the way.

Financial confidence grows every time someone pays on time, understands a little more about credit, builds a savings habit or takes another step towards a goal that once felt out of reach. These may feel like small actions, but together they help create a stronger financial future.

That's why this nomination matters so much to us. It recognises both Tom's entrepreneurship and Loqbox's mission, showing that our industry values businesses that help people build financial confidence and tackle financial exclusion.

We're incredibly proud that the Great British Entrepreneur Awards has recognised Tom, and we'll be cheering him on at the finals later this year.

At Loqbox, we're working towards a future where lenders judge people on their potential.
